MMCS / MCCC Newsletter (September, 2011)

This newsletter is highlighting major events of the entire MMCS/MCCC community. Please read it carefully!

Today is 10th anniversary of 911.  Let us pray for the victims, remember the tragedy and build a stronger country and brighter future together!

MCCC Board letter to wish the best Moon Festival to the Community

MCCC (Milwaukee Chinese community Center) Board

Dear community members,

Mid-Autumn Festival is just around the corner.  This year it falls on September 12.  The Mid-Autumn Festival is an evening celebration when families gather together to eat moon cakes and appreciate the round moon. On the night, the moon is believed to be at its roundest and brightest. The full moon is a symbol for family reunion, which is why that day is also known as the Festival of Reunion. MCCC would like to wish you all a happy holiday! May the Moon Festival bring along with it Joy, Fun, Laughter, Happiness, Good Luck and Good Fortune to you and your families!

The MCCC Board would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have contributed your time and effort to the growth of the Community.  We are very proud of what we have accomplished, be it Holiday Folk Fair, Chinese New Year at the Dome, Chinese Culture Fest, or performances at different venues and events.  MCCC is becoming bigger and stronger ever, and making greater impact! We are looking forward to your continued support.

Sometimes, I forget to say hi,
Sometimes, I even miss to reply,
Sometimes, my message doesn’t reach you,
But, it doesn’t mean that I forget you,
I just giving you time to miss me!

               Happy Friendship Day 2010!!!
Friendship is a little more trust,
               A little less try,
               A little more laugh,
               And a little less cry,
A little more WE and a little less I.

               Happy Friendship Day
Good Friends Care for each Other..
               Close Friends Understand each Other…
               and True Friends Stay forever
               beyond words,beyond time.

               Happy Friendship Day.
Every one can speak sweet word …
Every one can buy sweet chocolat …
Every one can smell sweet rose …
But no one can have sweet person like YOU…..
               Happy Friendship Day.

May we all be blessed with longevity. Though far apart, we are still able to share the beauty of the moon together.

May the Mid-Autumn Festival bring along with it good fortune and a harvest of smiles to you and your family.

Wishing you a harvest of happiness, good luck and good fortune this Moon Festival and always!

May your world be lit up with Joy, Fun and Laughter on Moon Festival and always!

Chinese School Starts Today
The fall semester will start on Sept. 11th 2011.  Here are a few updates for the fall semester.

Online registration is officially open today (8/24). You have until Sept. 25th to register and submit tuition payment. (After Sept. 25th, there will be a $20 late payment charge.) . Please note the new max class size limit of 15 for the regular classes.  We’re implementing this policy to help balancing the class sizes and teachers’ workload. A class will be considered full and closed if there are 15 students registered.  If you want to register for a class that’s in full status, you will be put on a waiting list and will need to fill out an Enrollment Exception Request form (under happenings on MMCS website).

Approval is required before your child can attend the specified class.
A few new teachers are joining MMCS this fall. They’re Ms. Lianghong,  Zhou, Ms. Yan Peng, Ms. Fenghua Yang, Ms. Zhonghui Shen, Ms. Shanhui Chen  and Ms. Xiaomei Wang.  Please join us in welcoming our new teachers!

One new program we’re piloting this fall is a pre-K class designed for the 3~4 year old. We wanted to provide a more structured environment for the little ones to learn instead of just wandering in the hallways.  Since this is a brand new program, part of the curriculum is still being worked  out and can be adjusted based on students/parents’ feedback.

There will only be one art class offered this fall.  We’re also adding  Chinese Yo-Yo to our extra-curricular offerings.

Save your Date – October 8th, 2011-Support Peter Zhou
As many of know, Peter Zhou is our community, who was diagnosed with the stage four lung cancer last September. This devastating news put him and his family on a roller coaster.

The great news is that after almost a year of treatment, Peter's health improved a great deal and lung tumor reduced about 70% of the original size. He is very confident that he is able to fight and his family life is slowly but surely back to normal. Thanks for all of you who cares about him. The new technology made this happen. The more and more cancer patients survived because of advanced medication. It makes Amy(Peter's daughter) wondering if she can do something to support the research and develop more effective medicine.

Amy Zhou--16 years old ambitious teenager--- found out that National Lung Cancer Partnership  will hold annual Walk on Saturday Oct. 8th in Milwaukee . She registered a team named" Amy's Allies" . She wishes that as many people as possible could join her team for the walk or run. She likes to make the difference not only for her Dad but for the people who suffered from this horrible disease.

Hoping for cure. Please save the date and join Amy on Oct 8th.:
