performed in Wisconsin – Invited by the MMCS Chinese music teacher Qiuzhen Xue after
their wonderful performance at Hartford in Wisconsin, the Chinese Music Ensemble
came to Milwaukee to have a Music Workshop with MCCC community and MMCS students at
Wauwatosa Presbyterian Church on October 17, 2009. It provided a great face-to-face
cultural glimpse of China, past and present, in traditional musical form.
The all-female music group played various Chinese instruments, including bamboo
flutes, windpipes, percussion, and drums. Linghong Mu, the director of the ensemble
introduced traditional folk instruments such as the Ruan, the Pipa, and the Suona to
the audience. After the performance, the music group took pictures with the MMCS
students.
